"I am not satisfied with simply ordinary. Not in art, nor in life."

Hello! My name is Marie DiLorenzo Honicker and I am a professional artist and art teacher
from Central New York, currently living in Oahu, Hawaii. My most current work revolves around painting animals and plant life in nature. My inspiration came when I taught a service learning project to a high school drawing and painting class. I brought to them my passion for animal adoption, which culminated in a body of work that shone a positive light on shelter animals through the bright color palette, research, and discussion we did as a class. This began my journey towards finding my niche as an artist. My media of choice are predominantly acrylic and watercolor paints, printmaking, graphite, and colored pencil. I do however, have a love of experimentation so I continue to enjoy dabbling into new art materials and techniques all of the time. Pet portrait commissions are welcome taken regularly. A percentage of every animal artwork sold is donated to the local animal shelter and/or Humane Society. My hope is that through my love of art I will give more animals the chance at finding their furever home, like my own rescue dog seen here. |
