"I am not satisfied with simply ordinary. Not in art, nor in life."

Hello! My name is Marie DiLorenzo Honicker and I am a professional artist and art teacher living on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. I have a B.F.A. in Visual Arts and an M.A.T. in Art Education K-12. My most current work revolves around illustrating the flora and fauna of the land and sea around me. With a passion for animal adoption, I also paint pet portraits and donate part of each commission to local animal shelters. My inspiration came when I taught a service learning project to a high school drawing and painting class. I brought to them my passion for animal adoption, which culminated in a body of work that shone a positive light on shelter animals through the bright color palette, research, and discussion we did as a class.
My media of choice are predominantly acrylic and watercolor paints, printmaking, graphite, and colored pencil. I do however, have a love of experimentation so I continue to enjoy dabbling with new art materials and techniques. In the future I would like to acquire an M.F.A. and have a dual profession as an illustrator. Commissions are welcome and taken regularly. |
